I’m booked and so anxious to get to Cologne, Germany for the 37th International Dental Show (IDS). If you are involved in the dental industry, this 5-day show is a must-see event that takes place every other year where most manufacturers gear up to launch new products. Prior to attending my first IDS, I did some research and was wondering if I would even be able to locate vendors of interest. This show is both enormous and very well-organized.
For starters, IDS 2015 had 139,000 dental professionals attend and 2,200 visiting exhibiting companies from 59 different countries. The show is held in a convention complex that spans six interconnected buildings. Each building has two or three floors. Honestly, I’m at a loss for words to describe IDS, with over 1.8 million square feet of exhibition space, the show attracts all the decision-makers in the industry as well as so many others that are passionate about anything dental.
Daily after the exhibits close, the City of Cologne lights up with so many authentic German pubs and restaurants where you can sample some of the best beer I have ever tasted. These pubs and restaurants are centuries old. The food, although not the healthiest, is so authentic with entrees such as pigs knuckles and a wide variety of very tasty sausages. It is truly an unique, authentic, and enjoyable experience. If you are passionate about dentistry and have never experienced this show, it is a must-attend event. Book your travel now as it’s only a couple of months away. If you’re coming, don’t forget to bring comfortable shoes as you will surely get in a lot of steps.
Hope to see you all in Cologne,
